Zuellig Pharma receives the ‘Information Visionary’ award at the second Singapore IDC Digital Transformation Awards 2018 that took place in Singapore. Out of 600 entries across Asia Pacific, the healthcare services company was named the top spot alongside United Overseas Bank Limited (UOB), a leading bank in Asia.

International Data Corporation (IDC) is a subsidiary of International Data Group – the world’s leading media, data and marketing services company. They are a global provider of market intelligence, advisory services for the IT, telecommunications and consumer technology industry.

The ‘Information Visionary’ award recognises organisations that have demonstrated excellence in their approach to data and information. Other category award winners include Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore, JTC and the National Library Board of Singapore, who all distinguished themselves for their excellence in digital transformation efforts to disrupt the market.

"Digital determination is key to succeeding in the marketplace. What distinguishes leaders from the others is their determination in making radical and often difficult changes; starting with their organizational structure, having a single strategy, new metrics, and an integrated technology platform for scale," says Sandra Ng, Group Vice President of Practice Research at IDC Asia Pacific.

Zuellig Pharma’s single-minded focus on digital transformation came in response to the need to drive better innovation and collaboration within the healthcare industry for better healthcare and patient outcomes. The healthcare sector generates huge volumes of data daily. Zuellig Pharma hopes to harness the data they have to create tailored insights that ultimately helps clients improve patients’ lives.

“In the last few years, we have committed to the digital transformation of the business to drive the integration of our data and technology for better insights and greater efficiencies. The team has worked hard in driving the cultural shift within the organisation and this award shows that we are headed in the right direction,” said Maikel Kuijpers, SVP Operations and Technology Zuellig Pharma.

Working with partners like Megaport, SAP, Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services, Zuellig Pharma has developed a cloud-based system to facilitate and streamline data processing, reporting and analytics. It is a single, unified platform that allows real-time information access.

This enables a seamless user experience allowing businesses to optimise efficiency, increase operational accuracy and accountability. Clients and customers are also able to access the platform to access new data sources, new areas of insight and analyse best-practices for their business.

“Making informed choices is not only going to be a necessity but a responsibility for all healthcare companies going forward. We hope to play a part in making that a reality as soon as possible,” said Maikel.
